What didn't happen between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis
Colts today was more important than what did. Denver's reinvented
defense smothered Eric Dickerson and made a goal-line stand in the
third quarter that turned out to be decisive, and the Broncos
proceeded to a 14-3 victory over the Colts at Mile High Stadium.
Denver (5-1) has yet to throw off a curious offensive depression,
and matters looked dire for the Broncos when rookie sensation Bobby
Humphrey left shortly before halftime with bruised ribs, since they
led only 7-3. But the Broncos have discovered they can be a brutish,
ball control team, and they limited Dickerson to 35 yards on 13
carries, and the entire Colts offense ...
