Article: Comeback sealed with kiss

Chris Johnson and Volronamo both made dramatic and popular winning comebacks at Ashburton yesterday -- with the promise of much more to come.

Johnson, on his first day's riding since August 1998, when Just Anything was successful at Riccarton Park, posted an earlier win on Paris Hilton, but showed the old class and style on Volronamo winning the McCrea Handicap.

Johnson, 41, a South Island turf hero before his retirement, was loudly applauded after his first win from a crowd significantly boosted by his presence.

But no praise was sweeter than that from his two-year-old daughter, Holly, who made a special trip to the jockeys' room to give her dad a Father's Day kiss.
