A fter years of reading the books, seeing the pictures and listening to other people's reports about Monet's famous garden at Giverny on the outskirts of Paris, my visit was truly an anticlimax.

The journey began not in Paris but with reading a delightful book to my daughters for many years, Linnea in Monet's Garden, where a young girl and her elderly friend travel from England to Paris to see Monet's garden and stay at the historic Hotel Esmeralda.
