Article: Foster parents warn of boycott over CYF

Christchurch foster parents are threatening to quit as carers because of the shabby treatment they say they receive from Child, Youth and Family (CYF).

About six Christchurch foster parents who spoke to The Press were considering withdrawing their services from CYF after a series of incidents where they say the department let them down and jeopardised the security of their charges.

Examples of their gripes included a baby being removed from its foster parent after she raised concerns the child was being sexually abused by his birth father, and a social worker taking three months to return a call to a foster parent about a child in trouble.
