Article: Trainers weigh up Warstep rematch

Many racing fans will be waiting with bated breath for the rematch between Ombre Rose and Smitten Kitten in the Warstep Stakes at Riccarton on May 6, a race which will now decide which of the two will be the South Island Filly of the Year.

But they could be gasping by then. It might not happen.

Ombre Rose, under a confident ride from Brian Hibberd, got up to head Smitten Kitten in the dying stages of the Air Freight Stakes at Riccarton giving commentator and co-owner Reon Murtha "the thrill of a lifetime".

There would be little, if anything, between the two fillies on their best day. But Ombre Rose, especially got up for autumn filly features by trainer Shane Marr, is relishing racing ...
