The University of Canterbury has become New Zealand's only
tertiary institution to offer poets and authors the chance to obtain
a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing.
English programme co-ordinator Associate Professor Patrick Evans
says setting up the MFA (Creative Writing) was a terrific thing to
have done.
"It is a recognised degree in North America and will equip
students to teach creative writing up to tertiary level as well as
for work in publishing, performance (drama, radio, television),
advertising, communications and arts administration.
