If you like leather and chrome, forget Madame Lash and try a bit
of Park Lane, Mini style, advises DAVE MOORE.
The original tin and plastic Mini, spawned in the 1950s and made
famous in the '60s, was crying out so hard for home comforts, that
several accessory and custom empires were built up around it.
The original Mini turned from being on the brink of initial market
ambivalence to become the darling of the trendy London middle-class,
40-odd years ago. Those trendies adopted it not only as a cure for
their parking problems, but as Britain's first modern automotive
style statement.
