Article: MPs lament waiting list cull

As public dissatisfaction over cuts to surgical waiting list grows, The Press canvassed several of the South Island's electorate MPs for their views on the cuts and asked them what they were doing to help those who found they were no longer scheduled for surgery.

Ruth Dyson, Banks Peninsula (Labour)

Dyson said letting the waiting list grow was not satisfactory and she was unhappy with the way it was being managed, particularly having so many people taken off the list in one go. She advised her constituents to go back to their doctor to make sure that their status was correct. "A critical part of being taken off the waiting list is the management of that person," she said.
