In a furious finish that instantly earned a memorable place in
racing history, Sunday Silence defeated arch rival Easy Goer and won
the $3 million Breeders' Cup Classic today.
With the victory at Gulfstream Park, he undoubtedly locked up the
horse-of-the-year title and became the third-richest thoroughbred in
history. And he finally quieted the Eastern critics who wouldn't
give him credit even after he had held a two-to-one edge in the
