Restaurant Brands New Zealand has served up more of the same in the first quarter -- strong sales at its KFC outlets, but sagging Pizza Hut figures.

Pizza Hut has been battling increased competition in the market -- particularly from Domino's, which has moved aggressively into this country, chairman Ted van Arkel said yesterday.

"The (Pizza Hutt) business continues to implement significant operational changes as part of the strategy to return to profitable growth in a very competitive market."

Sales across the Auckland listed fast-food group were $70.5 million for the 12 weeks to May 21, 4.1 per cent firmer on figures for the same 2006 period. Same- store sales rose 4.4%.
