Is the late, lamented Southern Sting the most successful sports
team in the South Island?
The sublime Southland netballers have fashioned a credible record
which rivals the Crusaders' Super rugby successes.
The Crusaders have won six out of eight finals. The Sting appeared
in all 10 national netball finals and won seven.
So which is the better team? At the risk of being strafed by a
salvo of swedes dropped by a flock of incontinent muttonbirds, I'll
suggest the Crusaders have the slenderest of edges because theirs is
an international competition. "R-r-r-r-rubbish," go the growls
already from the frozen tundras of Inver-Vegas.
