Article: Forest cabin owners get legal reprieve

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST - Cabin owners were elated to hear they may have a second chance to rebuild their homes lost in wildfires in 2002.

Forest officials plan to review an earlier decision to allow only four of 110 cabins to be rebuilt, giving hope to those who have been in limbo.

"We presented solid, legal and verified arguments that helped convince the district ranger to withdraw his (April 12 decision),' said La Crescenta resident Barret Wetherby, 73, former president of the San Gabriel Canyon Property Owners Association, whose house above Azusa was spared.
