It's safe to say that those in attendance of the 16th annual
Thunder and Lightning Pow Wow were blown away -- almost literally.
Despite winds that reached speeds upward of 40 mph, the Pow Wow
garnered a huge turnout from Native American tribes across North
America to non-Native Americans.
"We've grown from a just a few dancers and a few hay bales in the
parking lot to what it is today,'' Tribal Vice Chairwoman Mary Ann
Andreas said. "We were voted the biggest and the best pow wow by
Indian Country Today, which is the largest Indian newspaper in the
country, and we're very proud of that.''
"It was advertised as the best pow wow in the nation,'' said Dan
Nanamkin, a Washington state ...
