Washington Bullets forward John Williams's knee injury will keep
him out for at least three months, not just the eight weeks that had
been projected.
He had arthroscopy yesterday.
So important to the Bullets that he was leading the NBA in
minutes played this season when his knee buckled in Saturday night's
game against Utah, Williams learned at Sibley Hospital that in
addition to a tear of the medial collateral ligament, he suffered a
partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. That is an injury
that sometimes requires reconstructive surgery.
That will not be the case with Williams, however, at least for
now. After being re-examined yesterday morning, Williams was
