While the rest of the world debates how and when the two Germanys
should reunite, West Germany's political parties have reached over
the border in the past few days with advice, money and even
candidates.
The liberal opposition Social Democrats are providing East
Germany's eight-week-old Social Democratic Party with campaign help,
office supplies and experts on the economy and environment, party
spokesman Edward Heussner said.
The Republicans, West Germany's far-right party, announced today
that they intend to create a sister party in the East and run
candidates in the elections scheduled for May. The decision by party
