Penn State yesterday made official its plan to join the Big Ten
Conference as soon as scheduling, revenue-sharing and other
contractual details can be worked out.
Plans for the resolution of those problems were outlined during a
news conference in University Park, Pa., attended by University of
Illinois President Stanley Ikenberry, chairman of the Big Ten
presidents' Council of 10; Penn State President Bryce Jordan; Big
Ten Commissioner Jim Delany and Penn State Athletic Director Jim
Tarman.
Ikenberry said none of the Big Ten's current members will drop
out to make room for Penn State, that no additional schools are under
consideration for membership at this time and that the conference ...
