-- With the palm of his hand, Florida Marlins catcher Miguel
Olivo pounded the barrel of his bat in frustration moments after he
had struck out against Baltimore Orioles starter Erik Bedard on
Wednesday. This was in the eighth inning with two men on and it had
been the only rally the Marlins had mounted against Bedard in
Baltimore's 4-0 win. Olivo was the first out, so there would be more
to overcome. When the first batter reached base in the eighth,
pitching coach Leo Mazzone trudged to the mound and it was not so far-
fetched to think that Bedard would not last the inning. Moments after
Mazzone's visit, Bedard plunked Jeremy Hermida.
