The Commerce Department is pushing a plan that would force NASA
to lease a privately developed space-research facility in the early
1990s in a move that could threaten the agency's space station,
officials said.
The proposal for lease of the Industrial Space Facility was
discussed Thursday at a meeting of the White House Economic Policy
Council, and Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine reports in its
issue dated next Monday that the plan would cost $700 million over
five years.
