A woman celebrating her birthday was burned and temporarily
blinded by a snail that exploded on her plate at a restaurant, police
said today.
Karen J. Prouty, 36, of North Syracuse, was about to take her
second bite of a bubbling order of escargot Friday night when one of
the snails exploded, burning her around her right eye, police said.
