Metro planned to begin today installing heating devices that
would melt ice on the Yellow Line between the Huntington and
Eisenhower Avenue stations.
The project, which also involves installing new covers on the
750-volt third rail that powers the trains, is part of a $13 million
program by Metro to improve the system's performance in heavy snow.
Regular weekday Yellow Line service from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. should
not be affected.
