Article: Postmodern Progression;Pastiche or Genuine Advance? The Argument Rages On.

You can find them in Washington and in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston, Houston and Pittsburgh, and, I would guess, almost anywhere in between-new office buildings every bit as banal as the not-so-new ones but different looking, with a pediment tacked on here and a couple of columns there. Or shopping centers updated with here a cupola, there a turret, everywhere a soupc- on of a "style" everybody recognizes to be "postmodern."
