The University of Kansas has tired of all the "Wizard of Oz"
analogies that have followed it throughout this basketball season-all
the talk of miracles and that sort of thing.
But Dorothy was a tough girl. Like the Jayhawks, she survived
adversity and eventually went back home to Kansas enriched by her
experiences.
The Jayhawks are going to Kansas City, Mo., and the Final Four
after playing a clawing second half today and taking care of Kansas
State, 71-58, in the Midwest regional final at the Silverdome. It
was a game that typified Kansas' season. Just when it looked as if
the Jayhawks were through, someone came in and saved them, earning
them a shot at the Duke team that beat them, ...
