Ready Jet Go remained undefeated today as she held off the
powerful late challenge of Avie's Gal by a head to win the $45,675
Flirtation Handicap at Pimlico Race Course.
The victory was the third for the daughter of Northjet who, at 11
to 1, was the sixth choice in the field of 10 3-year-old fillies.
Ridden by David Appleby, Ready Jet Go ran the six furlongs over a
fast track in 1:11 4/5.
Turn To Money and Hag's Nag set the early pace, matching strides
until the stretch. At that point, Appleby rode Ready Jet Go strongly
between horses to vie for the lead. Avie's Gal had to thread her way
clear for running room.
At the wire, Ready Jet Go was all out to hold off Avie's Gal.
