LIFE can be confusing and so too can be history - simply because
it is made up of the lives of so many people, buildings and places
that have complicated, albeit interesting, existences.
And that confusion is heightened because many people and places
share the same name, making it difficult to work out who was who,
where was where and what was what.
Even within a particular district there can be places that are
called the same, like Pype and Pype Hayes in Erdington.
Before the Norman Conquest, Erdington had been one of the many
possessions of the powerful Edwin, Earl of Mercia.
