Blini! Stuffed quail! Turtles and truffles, caviar and candied
fruit!
As far as press releases go, this one was most sumptuous.
Monday night's seven-course dinner at Le Pavillon restaurant,
which followed a private screening of the Oscar-nominated "Babette's
Feast," was like an edible promotion for the Danish movie, opening
today at the Key.
The lavish, 19th-century-inspired French feast-which kicked off
at New York's Petrossian Restaurant and is scheduled to accompany the
film's release in major markets around the country-marked "the 14th
or 15th" tasting of the film's menu for Alfred Rosenthal, the
distributor's "gastronomic consultant" and bearer of culinary
standards.
