A few weeks back, Weekend wrote about Washington's piano bars.
Last week we visited one we missed:
Wander into Friends at 2122 P Street NW and you'll be greeted by
a scene unlike that at any other piano bar in town. Instead of a
half-dozen regulars seated intimately around an upholstered baby
grand, a Friday or Saturday night at Friends is strictly SRO.
On weekends, Carl Barnwell's nine-foot concert grand, set on a
platform against the wall, is surrounded by up to 70 customers, fully
half of whom seem to be singing along to such tunes as "Night and
Day," "There's No Business Like Show Business" and "Hello Dolly."
The overwhelming maleness of its patrons also sets Friends apart
