The road climbs gradually from the valley floor, past scattered
patches of mammoth redwood trees and then onto the lower flanks of
Sonoma Mountain, where nature and Patrick Campbell have conspired to
create a breathtaking tableau.
Unspoiled vistas of green hills and manicured vineyards give this
an air of Eden, but there is bad blood up here on the mountain.
Campbell and his neighbors have not been speaking since the feud over
his plan to expand Laurel Glen winery.
Grapes were grown at Laurel Glen, and the road into the farm was
built, before there were neighbors, most of whom were drawn by its
bucolic beauty. But when Campbell, who took over the place in 1976,
proposed to increase ...
