Greg Early of Eleanor Roosevelt set one record and came close to
bettering another yesterday at the 27th annual Prince George's County
track and field championships at Largo.
Early won the 1,600 in 4 minutes 13 seconds, surpassing the
record of 4:13.1 set in 1971 by Dale Bateman of Laurel.
He also won the 800 in 1:54.3 and almost broke the record of
1:53.8 set by Largo's Robert Bailey in 1986.
Camille Phillips of Largo set a meet record in the 400 (55.1),
breaking the record (55.79) set last year by Kellie Roberts of
Central.
Suitland won the boys division with 121 points. Laurel was
second (80 points) and Largo was third (78).
