Saxophone superstar Branford Marsalis is at the stage of his
legendary career where he only plays when he wants, what he wants and
with whom he wants- no star-tripping implied, just the right of a man
at the top of his game enjoying the perks of his virtuosity.
He comes to New Haven Thursday night at 7:30 to play with the New
Haven Symphony Orchestra because there's a man in town who meets his
standards.
That man is Mark Kuss, associate professor of music theory and
electronic music at Southern Connecticut State University, who has
become tight with the "big guy" because he has something Marsalis can
readily identify with- talent.
