First Selectman John Raffa and former First Selectman Tony
Palermo, the Democratic member of the board, are scrapping over the
town's escalating legal costs. "That's absolutely the most I've ever
seen in the legal line item in this town," Palermo complained last
week as the Board of Selectmen considered sending a request to the
Board of Finance for an infusion of cash.
"An awful lot of stuff had to be cleaned up," Raffa retorted, in
an obvious reference to Palermo's administration, which was swept
from office in November.
With the Palermo administration's demise, longtime Town Counsel
John Bennet was replaced. In addition, Raffa's administration hired a
