His offense disjointed, his defense in disarray and his face
twisted in disgust, coach Jim Calhoun called a timeout, stalked onto
the court, ripped the ball from Marcus Williams' grasp and bounced it
back to the referee. It was one of the only crisp plays of the
evening for the University of Connecticut men's basketball team.
Tuesday night at the Bradley Center, second-ranked UConn wore its
road blues for the first time in six weeks and found that roaming far
from home has its perils, losing 94-79 to Marquette before 15,831 in
the Big East debut for the Golden Eagles and the league opener for
the Huskies.
