Article: TV NOTES: Bob Schieffer receives QU's Fred Friendly Award

CBS anchor Bob Schieffer was honored with the Fred Friendly First Amendment Award this week from the Communications Department of Quinnipiac University. The annual award was presented at a TV news star-studded luncheon in New York City Tuesday. According to online QU Daily and QU spokesman John Morgan, Schieffer said in his remarks that he cannot recall a more challenging time for journalists. "People either accuse us of being government lapdogs or elitist liberals who want the country to fail,"he said to a crowd that included QU officials and Walter Cronkite, Charles Osgood, Ann Curry and Brian Williams.
