Jan Scruggs has his memories, recollections and visions of
Vietnam.
The one that haunts him most has to do with a dozen friends.
"They were unloading ammunition from a truck," he recalled. "One of
the rounds must have been defective."
When the ammunition blew up, Scruggs was the first man on the
scene. He had his first aid kit. Body parts were everywhere and
Scruggs was there with his kit-he recalls it had one bandage in
it-and all he could do was yell for help. "I was screaming, `Medic!
Medic!' And there were brains, entrails everywhere."
"There are predators out there," said Jan Scruggs. He could
have been talking about his experience in enemy territory in Vietnam.
