Q.
I'm going on vacation to Alaska this year and would like to take
slides of the scenery and wildlife.
I have just purchased a Pentax SF1 body. What lenses would you
recommend? If I can afford only one, which should I buy? Also, what
film should I use? There are so many different ones on the market.
I also wish to take pictures of the "midnight sun" since I'll be
there for the summer solstice.

I've had several reports on Alaska trips of the past year. The
consensus is that the traveler should prepare for lots of wide-angle
and panorama shots.
If you can afford only one lens, I would recommend the Pentax
35-70mm zoom. It's a fine lens, extremely versatile, and would serve
