For years now, policymakers, the media and even some scholars
have been nibbling around the fringes of what has turned out to be a
horrible truth: Society is killing the young black man, and many of
those whom society is not killing are managing to do the job
themselves.
In the book "Young, Black and Male in America: An Endangered
Species," Jewelle Taylor Gibbs and a group of contributing authors
make this argument, laying it out in the starkest, most inescapable
terms yet.
