When tap dancers at Valley Dance Productions in Roanoke received
an invitation in September to dance in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving
Day Parade, they were a little shocked.
Kristy Muddiman, one of the school's directors, said she isn't
even sure how her group got invited. She said it's possible that a
friend who is a choreographer and casting agent for Walt Disney Corp.
may have recommended Valley Dance to parade officials. The parade is
produced by Disney.
But the important thing is that a group of Roanoke dancers had the
opportunity to perform in the parade, Muddiman said. It is the
country's oldest Thanksgiving Day parade, with a live audience of
