Article: CHILD SAFETY SEATS PROVIDED FOR LOCAL NEEDY FAMILIES

Blacksburg police have embarked on a campaign to provide new child safety seats to needy families this holiday season.

The idea for this year's holiday project, a tradition at the Blacksburg Police Department for the past decade, came after police officers saw a marked increase in the number of people relying on used child safety seats this year, Officer David Cole said.

"The problem with second-hand seats is that, number one, if it's ever been involved in an accident, you can't use it, or you're not supposed to use it again," Cole said.
