Roger Pujol and his friend Stephanie Hallis are faithful seat belt
wearers for the same reason: They do not want to die.
When they heard about Gov. Mark Warner's proposed mandatory seat
belt legislation, though, they got on opposite sides of the debate.
Hallis supports the bill because she believes a seat belt saved
her life.
But Pujol says: "I just am against the government trying to pass
laws to protect oneself."
If passed, the primary seat belt law would allow police to pull
over and ticket drivers simply for not wearing a seat belt. The
current secondary seat belt law allows police in Virginia to write
tickets for failure to buckle up only after pulling a driver over for
another ...
