Article: The Question of Wright; The Smithsonian's Ambivalent Look at the Legendary Architect

Scarcely a month goes by anymore that a new auction record is not set for some artifact or other from Frank Lloyd Wright's hand, his studio or his closet, and there's been a proliferation of Wright restorations, Wright museums, essays and books. But Wright is still the most troubling of our artistic geniuses. The man and his work retain a fierce singularity. It's not easy to see how his vision fits into our workaday world, nor how his proud, multifaceted creations any longer answer pressing needs.

So, in the midst of all the celebration, mindless and otherwise, it is a novelty to come upon an exhibition devoted to the worthy if arguable notion that it's not the architecture that counts ...
