It's a sweltering summer day with the temperature and humidity
both in the mid-90s. You are indoors, enjoying the cool air and
comforted by the continuous hum of your air conditioner in the
background. Suddenly the unit starts to groan and you realize the
room is getting warmer. A flutter of panic sets in.
You quickly check the lights and the stereo to see if there has
been a power failure. There hasn't. A bead of sweat forms on your
brow as it sinks in that the air conditioner isn't working and
something has to be done.
