In case you're wondering, Mickey Rooney and Ralph Nader did not fly into Roanoke on the same plane this week.

For the record, Rooney (in town for this weekend's Vision Film Festival) wouldn't have been all that excited to share an overhead compartment with the presidential candidate (who was scheduled to speak at Hollins on Friday).

It's not that Rooney blames Nader for taking votes from Al Gore in 2000. He just doesn't think actors should talk about the p-word.

"I'm not a politician," the actor said emphatically.

"He gets worked up," his wife Jan Rooney said with an apologetic look.

Indeed, during a brief interview Thursday night, Rooney got worked up about a half-dozen times.
