Oh brother, the Nashville Bluegrass Band took a long time between
albums.
Six years, in fact, until the band finally released the brand-new
"Twenty Year Blues," a disc of new music marking the group's 20th
anniversary. The band was hardly lounging, however.
In 2000, the celebrated quintet participated with other bluegrass
stalwarts in a soundtrack for an odd little movie that appeared fated
to appeal to a small, niche audience. The boys in the band recorded
their parts, then hoped the soundtrack might sell a few hundred
thousand copies, an enormous figure in the bluegrass world.
Well, we all know what happened next. The soundtrack for "O
Brother, Where Art Thou?" became an out-of-left-field ...
