Do cats suffer from separation anxiety?
We tend to think of dogs' suffering from separation anxiety as
being a major problem for pet owners. Cats also can suffer from
varying degrees of separation anxiety, especially cats that are kept
as totally indoor cats.
Indoor / outdoor cats can always find a ploy of some sort outside
while their owners are gone. Cats that object to being left alone
will show many of the same signs that dogs do in similar
circumstances. For example: Noisy crying, sounding as if they are in
real distress (which they are), destruction of property by clawing at
the furniture, and the most common of all, inappropriate elimination.
