Article: HOMO SAPIENS OR HOMO SUPERBUS?

The Encyclopedia Americana states that the first person to attempt the classification of animals was Aristotle (384-322 B.C.). Conventional wisdom has it that Carolus Linnaeus, a Swedish botanist, was the first to classify human beings with the rest of the living world in his "Systema Naturae" in 1758. He called the human species Homo sapiens.

The word "Homo" means human being, and the word "sapiens" means having wisdom.

(It is not unusual for humans to exaggerate their own importance and ability. The other animals rarely have that opportunity.)

It is my contention that the term "Homo sapiens" is a misnomer, and that humans have been living under false pretenses lo these 246 years.
