Roy Randolph Pollard, Jr., 84, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November
9, 2004. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1936. He attended
Roanoke College, the U.S. Naval Academy Post Graduate School and
Harvard School of Business. Mr. Pollard served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and was the commanding officer of the USS Ramsey,
a destroyer based in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to
Roanoke and started a career as a developer and operator of several
businesses of which SaveX, USA was the primary activity. He was a
member of Trinity Ecumenical Parrish. Surviving are his wife, Doris
