Roy Nelson Stroop, 84, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord
Friday, March 11, 2005. He served his country honorably in the Army
Air Corps during World War II and retired from the Exxon Company USA.
He was a faithful and active member of Mineral Springs Baptist
Church. He had been active in community and church activities
including serving as the property chairman for the Baptist Mission
Centers and president of the Wildwood Civic League. He is survived by
his wife, Betty Stroop of Roanoke; son, Roy Lee Stroop of Verona,
Va.; daughter, Brenda Stroop Dogan and husband, Gary of Roanoke; son,
Charles Franklin Stroop of Roanoke; stepchildren, Preston Painter,
III and wife, June of Melbourne, ...
