Jerry Poindexter clutched a white Styrofoam cooler to his chest, a
distressed look on his face.
Poindexter had just learned that if he wanted to get inside the
Martinsville Speedway, he and his eight Budweisers would have to part
ways.
"It sucks," Poindexter said of a new policy, implemented for
Sunday's Advance Auto Parts 500, that restricted the size of coolers
that fans are allowed to carry into the speedway. At the same time,
the speedway's new owners began to sell beer from concession stands.
"They're just trying to sell their own beer inside," Poindexter
