Article: Fallen Lone Star Hoping To Rise and Shine Again

Our bank changed its name again last week, one day after a batch of new checks arrived with a suddenly obsolete institutional logo on them. It was the fourth name change in four years for old reliable NCNB Texas, as they now call it. For a brief dull moment it had been First RepublicBank, and before that InterFirst and Austin National Bank.

The latest name change delighted me, not so much for the infusion of cash it promised the institution as for the turning away from an imbecilic corporate trend of crunching words together and sticking capital letters in the middle of them. Initials might be cold, but at least they are clean.
