Roanoke County schools may adopt a school system that was affected
by Hurricane Katrina.
Board member Marion Roark mentioned the idea at a Roanoke County
School Board meeting Wednesday night. Roark suggested Roanoke County
find a school system in need and collect and deliver school supplies
to it through a "Pack the Bus" type of campaign.
Pack the Bus is an annual back-to-school event coordinated by
radio station Q99 FM to collect school supplies for needy kids. Each
participating school system parks a bus at a Wal-Mart store, and
donors fill the bus with supplies - paper, pencils, glue, crayons,
and other things needed in classrooms. The supplies are then
