Fireworks are the hallmark of Fourth of July celebrations. While
breathtaking, they also can be dangerous.
Franklin County Fire Marshal Benny Russell shares some suggestions
for staying safe and enjoying the holiday.
"The first thing people need to know is which fireworks are legal
for individuals to set off themselves. Just because you can buy it,
doesn't mean it is legal."
According to the Statewide Fire Prevention Code, permissible
fireworks include sparklers, fountains, Pharaoh's serpents, caps for
pistols and pinwheels, commonly known as whirligigs or spinning
jennies.
